Videos without lunges or squats

I am looking for a challenging weight loss, strength training video that does not have lunges or squats. I have arthritis and this limits my ability to perform those movements. Any ideas?

    If I remember correctly, Karen Voight's {Burn and Firm}7070^ (circuit training with cardio intervals) does not have squats and lunges.

    Regrettably, strength training/toning workouts without squats and lunges seem to be few and far between.  This issue has been raised repeatedly in the Collage forum and other fitness forums, and I wish workout producers would take notice of the fact that a significant percentage of exercisers simply cannot do these moves.  It would be a real service if they would include alternative moves in workouts!

    Hi, Helen--you're probably right about the squats.  It's been quite some time since I did this workout.  And if there were squats, then I probably substituted plies, which don't aggravate my knees.

    yep  :-)  lol, I did this workout last week, it's got squats but no lunges ..

    Joyce Vedral always includes substitions for squats and lunges in most of her exercise  dvds,check her out and see what you think

    I think Margaret Richard has a workout called "Getting Better". Due to foot surgery, she does most of the exercises sitting down or on the floor, so there are no squats or lunges.

    How about just modifying the moves by not going down as far?  I find that's what I have to do because of my knees.  If I combine that with using lighter weights, it doesn't seem to bother me.

    Hi,  try Pilates Weight Loss for Dummies and also Walk off Belly Fat videos.  I am a senior and cannot do any high impact moves either.   The {10 Min Solution  Pilates}7385^ dvds might interest you also.   Best,  AlicePS Don't write off the Chair Dancing dvds as too easy.   They offer a good alternative if you
    cannot put weight on the lower body.

    I do the cardio only on Burn and Firm.  It is blissfully easy on the knees.  Classic Firm with Jayne Poteet doesn't have lunges, but a ton of squats.  Lunges are easier if you do them on a platform or a slant board. I never do them on the floor.

    I was thinking that one that might be good for you is Method Standing Pilates Blend,  30 minof standing leg/balance, and 15 min floor legs.   Another idea would be to do a great oldie, 
    {Great Weighted Workout}7203^,  as the legs are all floor, and you could start with no ankle weights.

    Maybe {Yin Yang Fusion}6101^ ???  I have not done this one yet but from what I see on the clip there are no lunges some floor work though.  Maybe someone who has done it would know.

    I also have lower back and knee issues so instead of regular squats and lunges I do squats with an excercise ball against the wall (it really works the quads and there is hardly any knee stress and no lower back issues).  You can also lay stomach down on the floor, lay your head on your hands and lift your leg straight up or at a 45 degree angle.  This will really work hammies and butt.  You can also do this one on your hands and knees.  The good thing about these excercises is that you can do concentration pulses.  If you try it, let me know how it goes.

    I know I hate to say this, but I love doing Jari Love's DVD's and thank God they are chapter-ed because I just fast forward past the lunges. Same for my Jackie Warner of Jillian Michael...those I cant FF, 'cause the way her chapters are structured, but will substitute a move, so I keep on moving. I absolutely hate lunges, but don't mind squats :-)

    They have retitled Standing Blend to Method Fusion Pilates.  I did it yesterday,  30 min of standing legs, no squats or lunges, and15 min of floor work.  I love it, hope Collage still has it, think you will like it too.   AK

    I just fully agree with this statement. It works, I did the same.

    I also added some back legs exercises, like deadlift, back extention and glutes bridges and extention. About a month later I had developed the stregth on my legs to enjoy normal squats and lunges without any pain on my knees. I don't do many though. (Go here for illustration) :

    If I remember well, Kari Anderson {Reach}7509^ has no squats and lunges on her workout.

    many of margaret richards dvds don't have squats and lunges.  I also like floorwork dvds like {buns of steel original}6173^, {supermodel butt and thighs}6112^, tonique mat, {great weighted workout}7203^ floor section.
