Plain and simple weight workout

I just want suggestions on a plain and simple weight workout I can do twice a week that would cover all the major areas.  I do not want to "shred" in thirty days or get "ripped" - I just want a safe, effective weight workout that will compliment by walking routine.

I am a fifty year old female who has done some sort of exercise for over thirty years.  Used to be a Cathe addict till my knees told me no more!  I now walk on my treadmill ( 4.0-5 incline for 45-50 minutes sessions - twice a week) or do Leslie Sansone walk workouts ( three to five miles a session for three days a week).  I have two weight workouts - one from Tamilee Webb - I want that.... and Kathy Smith Weighted workout.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreicated.  There are so many to choice from!

Thanks

    Hi cybersis,
The first one that always comes to mind for this is Cathe's {Muscle Max}7445^. No nonsense, just basic weight lifting. I put my two ottomans together for my "weight bench". She also has "time saver" options, which are still long, but definitely give you a good workout.

{Your Best Body}6107^ by Kelly Coffey-Meyer has two 40-minute workouts that cover all the major muscle groups.  It also has several premixes of varying lengths.  You only need 2 to 3 pair of dumbbells.

I suggest any of the following, and all are available from Collage:

    Crunch: {Boot Camp Training}7266^
    Crunch: {Total Resculpt}7576^
    {Basic Training}5546^ with Ada Janklowicz

I would also suggest Gilad's workouts. Nothing fancy about them and you can use any amount of weight that you want.

    Good suggestions above.

I also like the Erin O'Brien DVDs - {Strong Body Ageless Body}7929^ and {Strong Body Fit Body}5906^.  I think either of those would be a good fit for you based on your preferences.

Try the "{Self Bikini Ready Fast}7449^" video.   It's pretty straightforward,  it's only 30 min,  I am 66 anddo it a couple times a week, and best of all, it's on sale!

I agree with RH's suggestions; Erin O'Brien's videos are top-notch.

While Cathe's {Muscle Max}7445^ is good, it's also IMO, over kill and it can be hard on the knees. I prefer 15-30 minute routines myself and these are my suggestions:

    1) Gilad's {Cuts and Curves}7680^ (a favorite and I skip the warmup in lue of walking being my warmup and it makes the workouts shorter.
    2) Petra Kolber's {Step-by-Step Strength Training}5828^
    3) Michele Carmichael's Jet Fuel (not sold at collage)
    4) Prevention's {2 Week Turnaround Strength}5698^
    5) Prevention's Walk Off Weight Strength Workout (Collage sold it at one point but I am not sure if they still do)
    6) Stephanie Huckabee's {PowerFit PLUS}5845^ (has a total body routine) Her other powerfits are good but focus on split sessions.
    7) Leslie Sansone's Walk Slim {Fast Firming}7844^
    8) Kathy Smith's Ageless Series

All will give you what you are looking for in minimal time with minimal equipment. Some even offer balance work and all will compliment a walking based routine.

I did Cathe's {Travel Fit}5806^ last night and although the workout only uses a band, the exercised are simple, old fashioned/tried and true excercises and I have some DOMs going on!  There is only one very short section that uses compound moves but it's done at a very doable pace.  I love this workout.

Another really good one is Tracey Staehle {Parts series}7930^.  I dont have a bosu and it works fine.  I did the upper body last night and plan on doing the lower body today

Oh good suggestion, jk.  I think I just may do that today : )

While {BodyMax2}7691^ also has some step in it, I do like the strength parts of that workout a lot.  {Slim and Lean}7629^ is a little ho hum, but a good general all around strength workout (if you like Jari).

Why do I have a déjà vu feeling?  Did we have this discussion recently??

It is really now advisable to start your workout routine or join an exercise program to successfully lose your weight.
