Intensify Leslie's workouts

Hi Collage and everybody on the forum,

I love Leslie's workouts, but, sometimes, feel the need to intensify them a little. I dont want to stop doing them, but any suggestions to improvise her moves, or incorporate a low step would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Ooh ooh ooh!  Weighted gloves!!!  They make everything harder!  I have 1.5lb ones, and they allow me to go back and use all the old cardios I used to love but felt I "grew out of" as I got a bit fitter!  My weighted gloves were possibly one of my top fitness purchases from last year!!!

Sakina, Sam's right there !! except I use wrist weights 1kg each wrist and I move my arms waaaayyyyy more than Leslie does .. I move my arms .. move 'em, move 'em with the weights, in and out, up and down, tribacks, biceps, out to the side and pull back in !!

lol, think I got a little carried away !!!   :-)  hope you got the picture ..

I agree with Sam and Slinks - I also use the weighted balls.  Exagerate your steps if possible (don't hurt your knees).

Plus - every time she does a knee lift or has you raise your hands overhead - draw your navel into the spine - really adds some intensity to the workout.  Squeeze your glutes occasionally.

By doing these suggestions you can really turn a mile workout into a "super charged" mile.

ITA with above posters - I used weighted gloves as well, and I also add a lot more arm movement than she does.

I just got mine in a local sporting goods store (Coast Mountain Sports up here in Canada).  Mine are Nike -- I think they were 30 or 40 bucks?  Apparently they are easy to find online too.  Perhaps Collage sells them?  If not, try a sporting goods store!  A lot of times they will order stuff in for you if they don't have it!

and, and, and !! lol, it's endless, I love walking with Leslie because you can make it as easy as you want or as hard as you want ..

I squat when I do side steps and double side steps .. and as Donna says work that navel .. squeeze those abs on the leg lift, do a standing crunch with your arms and legs  ..

You can get weighted gloves from the same company that sells the Beach Body Products.  I think Sports Authority and Dicks sells them too.

I jog while she walks, add hops to the kickbacks (or do jumping jacks), do side leaps instead of side steps, add hops to the leg lifts.Jump on my urban rebounder, and do the moves.... do the entire w/o with 3lb dumbbells....  generally make it higher impact...... (and I ALWAYS use the music-only feature when available!!!!LOL)         mixxie

Yes, any kind of booster (weighted gloves which are listed on our website as #9345, wrist weights, bands), jog, or hop will raise the intensity of a Leslie Sansone workout.

I use 5-8lb weights during the slower first part of the mile then switch to 3 lb weights during the faster part. I also add 11/2-2 lbs ankle weights. I do bicept and tricept curls, shoulder work ect. while doing the moves.  I also boost more often than at the end of the mile.  The weights will intensify the ab work with the knee lifts if you raise the weights over your head then bring them to the knees.  The way Leslie performs is at a beginners level.  Kick your legs and raise your knees high.  Make all your steps as large as you possibly can and take your body low.  You will find that it can be a good cardipo workout and get some minor toning as well.

I also use light hand weights and her bands while I do the dvd. I sometimes use a weighted vest. That helps too

Anyone have info about Lesiles new dvds. I hope they will be tough. I believe the names of the dvd are Five mile with a twist, The Big Burn (2 mile) and Walk This Way. Let me know if you heard anything. T
