Could you explain the benefits of callanetics vs traditional body weight toning workouts please?

Here's a try...callanetics focuses on very small(like 1/4" or 1/2"?) isometric type moves with high reps(sometimes working up to 25 or 50 or more)to target key muscles.  I did try callanetics and found some of the positions to target these muscles was pretty awkward although she(Callan Pinckney)shows modifications and has a variety of students.  Other toning workouts seem to have more range of motion, fewer reps and body positions that aren't as complicated.  Is one better than the other, or more effective???  I really don't know but less complicated body positions work for me better.  HTH

Callanetics isolates muscle groups by using tiny, precise (yet powerful) movements. Using these tiny contractions to work the muscle, you get 'deeper' into the muscle to reshape and tighten without any 'bulk'. The benefit is that you are increasing strength, flexibility and body alignment while obtaining a long lean look.
Traditional weight training works large and small muscles by adding resistance to the movement. This method creates strong mucle and lean muscle mass to raise your metabolism. It will also add more visible definition.
In short, do Callanetics for a strong, lean dancer like body and traditional weight training for a more defined, athletic physique.
