Shoes for workouts with weights?

I've recently become a FAN of Get Ripped, so I've been browsing the clips of other weight-type workouts.

What sort of shoes and/or foot support is best for these workouts?

The shoes they wear in the videos seem to be styled/shaped differently than anything I own (or have seen for purchase), so I wonder what features they're using that might be useful. Do these styles have a specific name?

 Well, I was just wondering.

it's best to lift weights in sneakers that don't have as much of a built up heel as running shoes. You want a flat heel. http://www.thisnext.com/item/501DFA67/D3A8EEF6/Adidas-Weightlifting-Shoes

For the most part, it's best to use a shoe design called cross-trainers with workouts that contain aerobics and toning.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it!

I'll just stay with the shoes I have for now, they're nicely stable, which I guess is the point?
