Hey Dawn. :) They had a segment or something on the news once where they had one pound of fat and one pound of muscle. (just plastic "fake" fat and muscle - I guess it was plastic material). Anyway, it was obvious from that demonstration that the one pound of muscle looked WAY smaller than the one pound of body fat. They were each one pound in terms of weight, but the fat was much bigger in size, and the muscle was much smaller in size.
Does that make sense? So people all the time are arguing about whether muscle weighs more than fat. And although "a pound is a pound" - the fat does take up more space than dense muscle, which takes up less space. So, two people could have the exact same height and weight, but the one with more body fat would look bigger and the other person with more muscle would look smaller and slimmer.
I hope that helps. That is my understanding of the fat vs. muscle debate.
