30 Day Shred Questions???

I've done level 1 of this workout before and did it for 10 days straight during the summer. My knees were aching!! I've heard that Jillian says it is not to be done for 30 days straight.. and to mix the {Shred}7963^ in with your other workouts..  I'm really trying to step up my game and drop some weight and I'm already doing some form of hard cardio daily, but I'm thinking about adding this in 2-3 times a week. Anyone have any info on what Jillian says on this subject??

Thanks

I remember her stating at the end of the cool down to do it 7 days a week.  But bottom line, it doesn't matter what a trainer recommends, it's about what you body is saying it can handle.  And I think it recommends doing each level for 2 weeks before moving onto the next level.  But if you're not ready to move from level 1 to level 2 then I wouldn't do it.  I've learned the hard way to be nice to your body, it's the only one you have.

Well, I am not sure what she says, but I definitely think you should alternate this workout (it's tough) with something less intense.   You need to give your body a little time to recover, while still staying active.

A lot of the video workouts claim that you should be doing them every day or 5x a week or something like that, but I don't really think it's recommended to do any workout that often. It's too much repetition of the same muscle groups without adequate rest, and then you run the risk of injury. Also you get mentally tired of doing the same thing over and over again. Personally, I wouldn't do any one workout more than a couple of times in a week.

I agree with everybody. Change it up, don't do weights every day.

Don' t mess up your knees. Pain is a warning sign.

Absolutely do NOT mess up your knees.  I have chondromalacia (in simpler terms, torn cartilage in both knees) after years of exercise. I suspect I was genetically prone to it. I am permanently banned from high impact workouts now unless I want to end up having knee surgery.

I agree you need to alternate a reasonably wide collection of videos and workout styles or you burn out on them fast. Don't do weights for the same body part two days in a row. Have something lighter in your collection for lower energy days so you can still get a workout in.

I like Jillian, too, but don't hurt your knees. Just do squats with no jumping or walk in place when she jumps. I think the girl on the right does the no or low impact version, maybe follow her instead.

I too had to stop this workout when my poor knees got very achy/painful and it seemed like it took them forever to go back to normal. It's nice to see I'm not the only one in that boat with the {Shred}7963^ workout.
